The Holidays, The Party Days

This past Friday and Saturday, my mother & I hosted two back-to-back holiday marketplaces, as we like to call them. These marketplaces were parties in which our guests had the opportunity to shop multiple vendors, indulge in delicious appetizers, and mingle. My mother and I have always wanted to get back into the swing of things with our business as Independent Designers for Origami Owl. We joined the company when I was a Freshman in High School, and now as a Freahman in college, I finally feel like I know how to manage work life and personal life. This weekend was the start to something new… and yes, I am totally referencing the lines from High School Musical. But in all seriousness, it was a start to the next, new and improved chapter of our partnership with the business and its’ role in our lives. Time and time again we have said we want to get more into it, meaning hosting more parties and starting to make it a priority. However, years of sports, school, and life in general have always gotten in the way. But now, we are committed as ever to keeping it at the top of our to-do list.

This past weekend I learned a lot about myself and how I want to grow our business. It was amazing to be able to host a party, communicate with guests (potential customers), and be proud of what I was doing. Origami Owl has awaken the business side of me and gotten me to reach outside my shell. I’ve always been that loud, bubbly, random, and somewhat overly energetic friend, but through this company, I have grown to be more outgoing, engaging, and direct. It has been such an unique experience to learn how to do inventory, sell a product, host parties, place orders, and every thing that comes along with having a business. This has been a great opportunity to learn about how the business world works, and better yet, to learn at the right hand of my mother.

Here’s a picture from the party this past Saturday.. and notice the big ole’ smile on my face. It feels good to be back doing what I love. Can’t wait for these next 3 days to pass… because here we go again. When I said we were making it a priority, we meant it. Next Origami Owl party is this Saturday, the 12th, and I could not be more excited for round 2 and for this smile on my face to return. Cheers to following your dreams and living your passion.
